What is Design?

"Merriam-Webster defines it as a "project or scheme in which means to an end are laid down...the arrangement of elements or details in a product..the creative art of executing aesthetics." Sure, design is all that.  But it's also much more.  It's communicating without uttering a single word.  It's texture and color coming together in ways we didn't think possible.  It's walking into a room and being instantly inspired.  Design is limitless, and as such defies definition, really.  But we certainly know it when we see it.  Good or Bad.  Subtle or over the top  We can't escape it.  It's all around us."     Home and Design 2010
